Expectations for how the system will work

Page history last edited by PBworks 17 years, 10 months ago

Goals

Three main things should become available in HMWV 2.0.

  • Donors info should be exposed on the front page if they wish, including their link.
    • The plugin (gotta think of a name...) could use the comments system for capturing and tracking the pledges. We'd add some code to hook when a comment is posted via wordpress api and add some fields to the comment/pledge form.
  • Donors should be allowed to leave comments on the front page.
    • Another functionality of the plugin, output a list of list (if applicable) from the db, formatted with the css of the page
  • Donors should be able to set up an automatic monthly pledge.
    • Comment/Pledge form would have a field for this.

User Experience for one-time pledges

I go to the front page of HMWV.

I click the "donate" button which takes me to a page where I:

  • Enter how much $$ i want to pledge.
  • Choose how I want to pay (paypal, CC)
  • Enter my name (or keep it blank)
  • Enter my link (or keep it blank)
  • Enter a comment (or keep it blank)
  • Click "submit" button
  • Get a "success!" message, plus I can "email your friends who you think should donate" or I can go back to the main page.
    • All could be done on the posting of the Comment/Pledge form.

Once I've pledged my money, everyone should see 3 things immediately:

  • My name/link in the list of donors
    • Comment/Pledge listing just like the comments list on a blog permalink page
  • Any comment I made about the project
    • see above
  • an up-to-date thermometer that lists how much more money is needed.
    • this would refresh a 'thermometer' guage on the sidebar (sidebar is present in each page?)

User Experience for Automatic Payments

We allow people to set up an automatic pledge. Like 10$ a month for 12 months.

The money will go into our account which we will use for projects.

I click on the "automatic pledge" button which takes me to a page that explains how this will work.

  • (allow users to create a username/password (??) so they can always cancel/modify this service)--is this a barrier to entry?
  • Enter how much $$ i want to pledge each month automatically.
  • Choose how I want to pay (paypal, CC)
  • Enter my name (or keep it blank)
  • Enter my link (or keep it blank)
  • Click "submit" button
  • Get a "success!" message, plus I can "email your friends who you think should donate" or I can go back to the main page.
    • see above

Once I've set up my Automatic Pledge, everyone should see:

  • My name/link in the list of "Power donors" (or whatever we call them)
    • see above
